South Indian Soul Food: Authentic Sambar

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup toor dal (pigeon peas)
  • 1 tsp Phoran Premium Garam Masala
  • 2 tbsp sambar powder
  • 1 small brinjal, cubed
  • 1 drumstick, cut into pieces
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Method:

1. Cook toor dal with turmeric until soft and mushy.

2. Heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.

3. Add vegetables and cook until tender.

4. Add tamarind paste, sambar powder, and Phoran Garam Masala.

5. Add cooked dal and simmer for 15 minutes.

6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice.
