Classic Indian Comfort Food: Dal Tadka

Dal tadka is the dish every Indian grows up with — creamy yellow lentils finished with a sizzling tempering of cumin, garlic, and ghee. Simple, nourishing, and deeply satisfying. With Phoran Premium Jeera and pure whole spices, you can make it restaurant-style at home.

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric and salt until soft and creamy.
  2. Heat ghee in a small pan. Add jeera and let it splutter.
  3. Add garlic and dry red chili. Sauté until golden and fragrant.
  4. Add garam masala, stir for 10 seconds.
  5. Pour the sizzling tadka over the cooked dal.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander. Serve hot with rice or roti.

Pro Tips:

  • The tadka should be poured immediately while sizzling — that's where the magic happens
  • Add a squeeze of lemon just before serving for brightness
  • Use pure ghee for the most authentic flavor
