Classic Diwali Samosas - Crispy & Flavorful
No Diwali celebration is complete without samosas! These crispy, triangular pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas are everyone's favorite festive snack.
Ingredients
For Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Water as needed
For Filling:
- 4 potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 2 tbsp Phoran Premium Garam Masala
- 2 tbsp Phoran Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Phoran Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Phoran Kashmiri Chilli Powder
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- Fresh coriander, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
Step 1: Make Dough
Mix flour, salt, and oil. Add water gradually and knead into stiff dough. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare Filling
Heat oil, add cumin seeds. Add ginger, green chillies. Add peas, cook for 2 minutes. Add mashed potatoes, garam masala, coriander powder, chilli powder, and salt. Mix well and cool.
Step 3: Shape Samosas
Divide dough into balls. Roll into oval shapes, cut in half. Form cones, fill with potato mixture, seal edges with water.
Step 4: Fry
Heat oil on medium flame. Fry samosas until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Step 5: Serve
Serve hot with tamarind chutney, green chutney, and Phoran Chai Masala tea!
