Bengal's Soul Food: Macher Jhol

This light fish curry is comfort food for every Bengali household.
Ingredients:
- 500g Rohu or Katla fish, cut in steaks
- 2 tbsp Phoran Premium Garam Masala - 17 Spice Blend
- 1 tsp Premium Turmeric (Haldi) Powder - Anti-inflammatory
- 1 tsp Premium Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - Vitamin C Rich
- 1/2 tsp Premium Jeeravan Chat Masala - Tangy & Flavorful
- 3 tbsp mustard oil
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- Salt to taste
Method:
1. Marinate fish with turmeric and salt for 15 minutes.
2. Heat mustard oil until smoking, then reduce heat.
3. Lightly fry fish pieces and set aside.
4. In the same oil, add bay leaves and cumin seeds.
5. Add ginger paste, green chilies, and Garam Masala.
6. Add tomatoes, red chili powder, and remaining turmeric.
7. Add potatoes and water, bring to boil.
8. Gently add fish pieces and simmer for 10 minutes.
9. Sprinkle Jeeravan Chat Masala for extra tang and serve with rice.
