Ganesh Chaturthi is the most joyous festival of the year — a time to welcome Lord Ganesha into our homes with devotion, music, and of course, an abundance of sweets. This year, elevate your festive prasad and celebration spread with these traditional recipes made extra special using Phoran's premium spices.

1. Ukadiche Modak — Lord Ganesha's Favourite
The quintessential Ganesh Chaturthi offering, steamed rice flour dumplings filled with a fragrant coconut-jaggery mixture spiced with Phoran's Green Cardamom.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups rice flour
- 2 cups fresh grated coconut
- 1½ cups jaggery, grated
- 1 tsp Phoran Green Cardamom powder
- ¼ tsp Phoran Nutmeg powder
- 1 tbsp ghee
- Pinch of salt
Method: Cook jaggery and coconut together until thick. Add cardamom and nutmeg, mix well and cool. Prepare rice flour dough with hot water, ghee, and salt. Shape into small cups, fill with coconut mixture, seal into modak shapes, and steam for 10–12 minutes. Offer to Bappa with love!
2. Fried Modak — Crispy Festive Delight
A golden, crispy variation of the classic modak, perfect for those who love a little crunch in their celebrations.
Ingredients:
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 cup fresh coconut, grated
- 1 cup jaggery
- 1 tsp Phoran Green Cardamom powder
- ½ tsp Phoran Dry Ginger powder
- Oil for frying
Method: Make a firm dough with flour, ghee, and water. Prepare filling with coconut, jaggery, cardamom, and dry ginger. Roll small discs, fill, seal into modak shapes, and deep fry until golden. Drain and serve warm.

3. Puran Poli — The Maharashtrian Festive Flatbread
A beloved festive staple — sweet stuffed flatbread made with chana dal and jaggery, warmly spiced with Phoran's Cardamom and Saffron.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chana dal, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup jaggery
- 1 tsp Phoran Green Cardamom powder
- A pinch of Phoran Saffron strands
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- Ghee for cooking
Method: Cook mashed chana dal with jaggery until thick (puran). Add cardamom and saffron. Make soft dough with wheat flour. Stuff with puran, roll gently, and cook on a tawa with generous ghee until golden on both sides. Serve hot!
4. Coconut Ladoo — Quick & Divine Prasad
A simple yet irresistible prasad made in minutes, fragrant with Phoran's Cardamom and Rose Water.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups desiccated coconut
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 1 tsp Phoran Green Cardamom powder
- 1 tsp rose water
- Pistachios for garnish
Method: Mix coconut and condensed milk in a pan on low heat until it comes together (5–7 minutes). Add cardamom and rose water. Cool slightly, shape into round ladoos, and garnish with a pistachio. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
