The Phoran Chaat Cucumber Salad Recipe
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced or cut into half-moons
- 1.5 tsp buy Phoran Jeeravan Masala online India — the hero ingredient
- 1/2 tsp buy Phoran Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder online India
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 tsp black salt (kala namak)
- 1 green chilli, finely sliced (optional)
- Small handful of fresh coriander, roughly chopped
- 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
- 2 tbsp fine sev for crunch
Method:
- Place cucumber slices in a wide bowl.
- Sprinkle Phoran Jeeravan Masala, Kashmiri chilli powder, and black salt directly over the cucumbers.
- Squeeze lime juice over everything.
- Toss gently to coat. Taste and adjust — more Jeeravan Masala for tang, more lime for brightness.
- Top with pomegranate seeds, green chilli, and fresh coriander.
- Add sev just before serving to keep the crunch.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes — the cucumbers will release liquid and the flavours will deepen.
Variations to Try
Creamy version: Add 3 tbsp whisked yoghurt and a pinch of roasted cumin for a raita-style chaat salad.
Watermelon chaat: Replace half the cucumber with cubed watermelon. The sweet-tangy-spicy combination is extraordinary with Jeeravan Masala.
