Jeeravan Chat Masala — Indore's Most Iconic Spice Blend
Jeeravan is the spice blend that defines Indori street food — tangy, cumin-forward, slightly spicy, with a complexity that makes everything it touches taste better. Sprinkled on poha, sev, chaat, or fruit, it delivers the signature flavour of Indore's famous breakfast culture. Phoran's Jeeravan follows the authentic Indori recipe with no artificial flavours.
What Makes Jeeravan Different from Regular Chaat Masala?
Regular chaat masala is generic and widely available. Jeeravan is specific to Indore — it has a stronger cumin base, a more complex sourness from amchur and hing, and a distinct flavour that regular chaat masala cannot replicate. If you've had authentic Indori poha, the flavour you remember is Jeeravan.
How to Use Jeeravan
Indori poha: Sprinkle generously on finished poha alongside sev and pomegranate
Chaat: Use in place of or alongside regular chaat masala on bhel, pani puri, dahi puri
Fruits: Sprinkle on cut fruits — especially guava, cucumber, and raw mango
Raita: Stir ½ tsp into curd raita for an Indori twist
Roasted snacks: Toss on makhana, peanuts, or chivda after roasting
Salads: Use as a tangy finishing seasoning in place of salt and pepper
How Much to Use?
Jeeravan is bold — start with ¼ tsp per serving and adjust. For a plate of poha serving 2, ½ tsp is typically enough. More is not always better — the blend is designed to enhance, not overpower.
